AQ against 5 callers
4-8 game at the Bike. Im not sure what to think about this hand. I just sat down 5 or 6 hands ago, so no real reads on anyones play, but the hands I had seen were pretty loose and fast.
UTG goes all in with 7 chips, 5 calls around to me in the BB. Look down and find A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I call. Flop comes A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I open, they all call. Turn is 10[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB checks, I check, MP player bets, all fold to SB who raises. This is where Im stuck. I am pretty sure the first better wont make it three bets, so I call. MP calls. The rivers a brick. SB bets , I fold, and MP calls. My thinking on the river is with action behind me, I dont want a crying call to turn into two bets. How'd I do on the turn and river? |

Re: AQ against 5 callers
You should've bet the turn. You had top two pair and the nut-flush draw. There is no reason to check there.

Re: AQ against 5 callers
I might have 3-bet PF. With all those outs and the possibility I have the best hand, I might 3-bet the turn also.
I probably wouldn't have checked the turn though. |

Re: AQ against 5 callers
You really really need to bet the turn. Not only because youre probably still ahead but you also have the A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The river fold is worse.

Re: AQ against 5 callers
You need to realize that on the turn, not only do you have top two pair, but you have 13 outs to improve to a boat or the nut flush. With 46 unexposed cards, you are 29% or so to improve to a lock hand. If you bet the turn and everyone calls, you are making money on that street even if there is a 0% chance that you are already ahead!
Don't live in such fear of flushes, particularly when you have redraws. Folding top two pair simply because there is a flush on board on the river in live 4-8 is a trainwreck. Please don't do that anymore. |

Re: AQ against 5 callers
Don't check the turn. I also don't understand why you called the turn to fold the river. I"d lead the turn, call a raise, and call a river bet. Might be a lot of bets with a loser, but I'm not so quick to give people credit for the fluish when the board is filled with big cards and you could often have the best hand.

Re: AQ against 5 callers
Would you say the river fold makes the OP... I don't know... a GIANT CLOWN SHOE???
j/k Seriously, though, to the OP, do NOT make "big folds" in limit games. There is really no other lesson that is more important to learn. |

LOL at clown shoe.
Yep, Reading this hand again after some sleep, its pretty easy to see I completly pussed out. Its not necessarily the diamond on the turn that scared me off. It was the ten of diamonds. All i could think was that KJ got there, along with every flush draw. Turns out my read was right, but I had a nagging suspicion that I played the hand like crap, so I decided to post it here for confirmation. As for making "big laydowns" in a limit game, I know what youre saying, but Ive learned to trust my reads in certain situations. I knew I was beat, and Im not donating an extra BB when Im positive Im beat. |

Re: AQ against 5 callers
You can't fold the river getting ~16 to 1 on your call. I think with this hand you win more often than you might think. Even if you feel you are beat I think this call is +EV in the long run, considering the other hands that could be out there that you do beat. Even though you were beat in this situation, I think its an automatic call with top two.
