Default AK HU. The eternal AK quest continues.

Okay, reads for BB: VPIP = 30.67; PFR = 4.00. I want to get to a showdown with this hand, right? I posted a similar HU hand awhile ago, where I bet the turn, and someone suggested that I check the turn and call the river, so I did this time. Also, in the other hand I didn't pick up my flush draw on the turn. Make difference? What about the possibility that BB has a pocket deuce and is trying to get cute with me?

I like this hand...alot. This is why position is soooo great, you got to see all 5 cards for 1.5BB (2 SB pf and 1 sb on the flop) which is probally preferable in this case.

Calling the river is questionable...do you think BB bets the river with less than a pair even 1/4 of the time, then calling is clearly correct. This is why these situations are so situation sensitive...anyhow, nice hand.

Question for Davelin and Kaishin...
Is there really that much difference between betting the turn and checking the river and checking the turn and calling on the river? I can see pros and cons for either but I don't think it's a huge +/- EV situation either way.

Betting the turn gives you value for when your A-high is good (which it is a decent portion of the time here) but more important gives you FOLDING EQUITY!

Isn't the villian trying to go for a checkraise of his made flush on the turn?

If I were him (villian) and you (hero) were TAG and often overplay your cards even when you miss, I might check the turn to you as well, trying to get you to commit more chips.

No?

If you always assume your opponent has the best cards for him possible, you'll never win money at this game. What are the chances that Villain has a flush here? Probably like 5%.
