Default Re: 1st post - weak flush draw

Admittedly this hand went horribly awry.
however this hand has some sublties that may not
come across without knowing the table texture.
I thought briefly that if i raised preflop that there was
a good chance the flop would be 5 way for two bets each.
I decided against it because of position.
A9s is not a hand that I am going to raise with very
often but had i been on the button with it at this table
I would have raised it. There were a bunch of 5 and 6 way
flops previously for two or more bets.
The check on the flop was with the full expectation
that someone would bet at the pot. Ideally someone
in early position with a lot of callers which
I would have then raised. If the bet had come from later position
I would have evaluated the chance of getting overcalls vs raising.
My comment about expecting the button to bet was
more about the K being on the board I figured that
if it had been checked to the button by 4 people there
was a good chance he would bet at the pot with just about anything.
I normally would bet out at this pot without thinking twice.
I just gambled that with 4 people left
to act that I would have a chance to either raise or call
when it got back to me and I would have a good
idea how many people were going to be in the pot.
The Turn bet was weak but it was a semi bluff since no one
had shown any aggresion up to this point.
I took a stab at it with 9 outs to the flush
and 3 aces that were somewhat dirty
because of the straight possibility.
I do think that there was a good chance
that the aces would have been good at this table
as AT or higher probably would have raised preflop.
The river bet was a disaster I remember thinking that
this guy will bluff at me if I check because the bet
I made on the turn was somewhat representing a pair of tens.

This is kind of tough putting up your worst hands for the world to see thanks for the input though.

For this to be a semi-bluff, there has to be a decent chance that all four players will fold. I estimate this chance at about 2 percent.

Man, this is ugly.
No you shouldn't raise preflop with A8s, the hand is notthat good.

Bet the flop yourself. I have no idea why you expect the button to bet, the button doesn't always bet.
The you bet the turn in this tiny pot....
The desperate riverbluff to buy the pot is a mistake, too. You showed little agression and any hands that beats you will call you.

Bet the flop. Checking through is a disaster, as you want to pump your draw. Check/call the turn. Check/fold the river.

Sorry, this hand is no good.

Pre-flop fine
Flop bet
Turn check/call
River check/fold

I'm sure Button was scratching his head after this one.

Flop - Who's going to bet for us
Turn - Push what? Is everyone folding here?
River - Giving someone called the turn, what's the chance someone will fold the river?

You overvalue bluffing.
