Hero must have folded AFTER the pre-flop call, but BEFORE the flop by clicking the "Away" box and turning off his monitor. It's a tricky play, but I just don't see it as +EV.

Yeah, the Step 5s are crazy like that. I'm obviously not ready for them.

77 on the button is a raising hand. Fine to me. Although if you're going to go into check/fold mode if an overcard comes you shouldn't raise. But if you plan on following it up then its fine.

Maybe in a ring game. Maybe.

In the vein of thought you are suggesting, where you "arent in check/fold mode if overs come", and are determined to raise, i would suggest a slightly larger raise....its the only way you can define the hand of MP if he calls..... you will want some input on what the likelyhood is of him pairing a low-face (T,J).

My line, if i am going to raise this hand p/f, i up it to maybe go 5 or 6BB, so that i know any callers will have to have AK/AQ or overpair to my 77 to be calling.

Now i CAN check/fold on A or K high flops, and i CAN play real strong on J or 10 high flops.

You dig? Of course, i play in games that are 1/20th to 1/50th of the buy in of this one, so maybe the thinking is different?

BL - Limpin' ain't easy...

My problem with my move that it makes me pot committed. If mp2 puts me all in on the flop and i do not have a set, and there are overcards i would have to bite my tongue and fold.

I would ofc be happy and push if it is checked to me.
