Last night, 1st level in a 7HL8 tourney I played this hand.

Seat 2 brings-in for 5. Seat 3 calls. Seat 4 completes to 15.

Seat 5 folds, Seats 6 & 7 both call.

I raise to 30 with my trips.

Either Seat 4 has three or four 8s now, or he's got a pair with a low straight or flush draw. I think it's likely not quads since he probably would have kicked back when I raised on 3rd.

Either way, I'm betting! I get a call from Seat 3.
Seat 4 raises. The next 2 fold and I re-raise ( lets see what he's got ). Everyone just calls. OK. Info gathered.

Bang! I've got quad Queens against 1 low draw and 'who cares'.

I bet, the both call. The low isn't made yet... this is good news. They have to figure me for at lest trip Qs at this point. If I had pocket aces when I raised on 3rd, I'd be Aces full now. Unless they think I'm a total idiot, my re-raise into the pair of 8s on 4th told them that I wasn't afraid of trip 8s. If they have any brains at all, they play me for trip Qs minimum.

I think Seat 3's low hand on 4th might have scared Seat 6's low draw out. Great for me!

These two guys played 'dangerous' hands ( according to Ray Zee ) and got stuck as they should!

It felt good. So often, these junk hands end up improving to beat some better hand and it stings. This time, however, the sailor caught his miracle in Seat 3. And, for a second or two, he felt like the boss when he raised me on 7th.
