Re: Poll: Do you bother with chatbox niceties
my chatbox activities are mostly relegated to inspiring tilt when I suckout or defending the fish.

Re: Poll: Do you bother with chatbox niceties
In the past I've tried to say "ty" when someone says "nh", in a meager yet failed attempt to be a good person.
When I say "nh" it is almost always a suckout or my own poor play, and it is typed through clenched teeth. However, recently when multitabling I have a general rule of never chatting. I know I'll miss some comments or "nh"'s directed toward me, and I don't want to seem like an ass for not acknowledging them, especially if I've been chatting before. Instead, if I never respond it seems like I have chat turned off. Now the only reason I leave it on is for it's moderate entertainment value. |

I only leave it on so that the fish who just hit his one outer can belittle me and make me go on tilt.

Re: Poll: Do you bother with chatbox niceties
back in my fishier days I would suckout and say
"I did it with my mind!" funny that people were generally ok with that explanation too... the only other time I was berated in the past few months (my pot odds were a LITTLE too low to call down) I believe my response was "I guess I lost some sklansky bucks on that hand then, bill me" and he let it slide |

Re: Poll: Do you bother with chatbox niceties
in a MTT or SNG - where I don't know the players, I rarely chat.
in the PLO - I might carry on a conversation with a regualr, or I'll at least say hello. |

Re: Poll: Do you bother with chatbox niceties
I say NH as often as I can when someone wins a hand with trash that sucked out on the T or the R, especially if it's against me. I want them to think they played the hand well and to keep doing it (don't you?), so I praise them and encourage them as much as possible.

My favorite suckout comment is from Full Metal Jacket "You could suck a golf ball through a garden hose"

Re: Poll: Do you bother with chatbox niceties
I rarely view the chat during a hand except when an unusual hand plays out - then I peak at the chat just to see if someone made a comment. If the table is unusually chatty I turn off chat. Not worth the extra distraction. If I happen to beat someone by deceptive methods then I'll look for a comment. Generally I'll not add any comments, even if someone says "nh" to me or "whines".
Its a good thing the other players can't hear my vocal comments during a game - they'd either be highly insulted or rolling on the floor laughing. |
