Default Datamining Party .50/1...choosing tables and is it worth it?

I just started "datamining" the .50/1 PartyPoker game. As you know there are a lot of tables. I'm currently just randomly choosing full tables to mine.
Is this the right way to do it or is there some way to select tables that would help me more? If I play mostly at night, will mining during the day help me as much or vice versa? Or is it even worth it since there are so many players in and out at this level? Any other comments?

Thanks.

I really don't think it's worth it. There are too many players.

Just use playerview or gametime+ as you play.

Can't hurt. Every piece of information helps. I've been doing it for the BBJ 2/4 tables for when I'm ready for them.

Even if you don't play all the players you've mined against because of time differences, some will overlap.

If you pick the more full tables or tables with waitlists, the positive is that the table might last longer. The negative is you're getting a non-random sample (fish make bigger pots, and certain types of people look for the high pot average tables).

Excellent advise SC.

The one thing it will go is get you a lot of hands on TAGS and decent semi-TAG regulars. That is you will get quite a few hands on who to look out for.

Overall though, it is spinning yr wheels.

I will agree and disagree with the other posters. At .5/1 you are probably not gaining a whole lot over just sitting down. At 2/4 I'm not so sure this is true anymore. Big fish usually don't last all that long, but you can at least compile a list of multi-tabling TAGs so you know the moment they sit down or that you look at a table what you're in for. I've noticed at 3/6 the players are far more static than at the lower levels and I presume as the pool of players decreases the higher and higher you go, the more likely you are to be collecting data you will be using in one of your games.

All that said, I usually find you really only need 50-100 hands on a particular player to know 90% of what you will ever really know apart from actual specific strategies that you have to actually witness and make notes on. After 50 hands you know if they're loose, tight, aggressive or passive etc. etc. so data mining is only useful when you compile it against a large number of players that you will see again. This probably will not happen until you hit 3/6 but can be useful at 2/4 IMO.

Ditto, there's no single person you really need to single out at .5/1 because there are so many bad ones. Just get up and move if you find a table too tight.

I have to disagree. Anytime you can get more information on your opponents the better you are.

Sure it's just .5/1 and sure there's a lot of players, but what could it hurt? At the very least it'll help you to understand and use those stats in the future against opponents that it really matters against at higher levels.

I guess it's true that it couldn't hurt... but it'd just be a waste of time, IMO.

Might as well be playing .5/1 instead of observing it.

I will say that I'm glad I learned how to datamine while playing .5/1. I think it might be worth it just so you can do it at higher levels when it becomes more essential.
