When do you expect your chips Ray?

March 29 is the "official" estimate for shipping...so a couple of days after that...but it already feels like forever!

Exactly. ie, the green chips are only 50% green when viewed from the edge - with a "rainbow" of colors as the edgespots that are the same on multiple chips. I would prefer 3 smaller, single color edge spots. Not a huge deal, but my preference due to asthetics and color blindness.

[/ QUOTE ]

Gotcha. I personally prefer it that way, so long as all of the different denominations are easily distinguishable, but I can certainly see how that could present a problem for the color blind!

Default Thoughts on Paulsons / JB

I voted for Paulsons. However, I had the following thoughts after receiving my 7 chip sample of the James Bonds:

Pros --

1. The feel and sound are great--maybe perfect.
2. The edge spots are slightly irregular and rough, which I like because it gives the chip a more "traditional/old school" feel.
3. I thought I wouldn't like the new mold ("Paulson Chips") but I was fine with it.
4. I like the texture (smooth) of the inlay (as opposed to something like the nevada jacks samples I have which is somewhat rough/scaly).

Cons:

1. I read some post complaining that the Paulsons tend to get dirty and rub off on each other. I found that to be the case--after 20 minutes of shuffling the sample fresh out of the pack, the white $.50 chip and the orange $1000 showed some dirt/color from the other chips. It sounds like this is typical with Paulsons, but it happened quicker than I thought it would.
2. We should definitely want to match the inlay to the mold; the small inlay seems odd on this mold; I wouldn't mind the mold if it came out like the pictures of the generic Paulsons, however (shown at trademark poker).
3. I'm not crazy about the orange color on the $1,000 chip.

For what it's worth, I wasn't particularly crazy about how the James Bond inlay looks. The green background pattern and the large black denominations don't work together that well in my opinion. Also, there's too much going on in the green pattern for such a small space.

That all being said, I'm definitely interested in going along with an order for Paulsons (subject to see final designs of course). I like denominations but it would be nice to have one chip (the white one) without a denomination so you have a little flexibility.

Also, does anyone have a view as to the durability of the Paulsons? Old ones are for sale all over the place, so they must be durable. Any reason to believe this new series of chips is less so?

Also, does anyone know how long the Paulsons last in casino use before they are replaced?

This site Larry, I sure wish I knew why I always have trouble. If I limit my characters it sends right away - if too many it times out. Any help would be appreciated - admin won't respond to my questions.

It is the same as the one that was there several weeks ago.

I know this has been covered, but there are 2 basic options on how they can fix the mold.

1) They will ‘fill in’ the center (or extend the outer ridge inwards) to match the inlay size.
2) They will increase the inlay size (Standard to Grand).

It seems that #1 is almost certain (especially since the proof shows the 'Paulson Chips' mold more inset from the outer chip edge), but that got me thinking that if they add extra chip material, doesn't that increase the weight of the chips?

Are standard vs. grand inlay chips in general (Paulson/ASM etc) the same weight, or are the standards always heavier?

Thoughts?

I like your conclusion, but pretty sure this refers to the content, not the shape of the inlay.
