Dunno, didn't get much past "chipco" and lost interest in the thread. Although they are great chips I just prefer clay with nice edge spots and old school looks. I'm not too much of a fan of the egyptian theme but the end result is quite impressive.

I dont want to say too much just yet. I am still putting together a plan for getting this project done so that where everyone benefits. It's not going to be easy, but I am going to put all my efforts into it. It WILL happen, and each person involved will be very happy with the chips and the price.

My only advice right now is don't blow your bankroll on chips today. See what I propose within the next several days first.

I am late to the post but would vote "classic."

Something like this .

The site I took the image from oldvegas chips.com has some great old chip designs.

TenPercenter you did such a great job on the Egyptians (I have a small set now) that I'd be really anxious to see what your clay chips look like! (I might have to explain to my wife why a second set of fancy poker chips was necessary. . .)

Hey Ten, I like many others on this thread am eagerly waiting to see what you have cooked up. I am really intrigued by your idea of putting together a set of really classy old-school-style clay chips. In the meantime, I'd like to give some unsolicited advice. JoJobinks and I and some others were discussing this issue over on this thread recently I actually posted some mock ups of what I was looking for. Please consider these points:

1) No Denominations. I won't re-hash the pro's and con's of this particular issue, but I would like to point out that there just aren't many non-Denom clays out there. (Can you name one set?) This would make your new set even more unique/Valuable.

2) No text. One thing I really like about the Suits and the Egyptian's (even the Teddy KGB's) is that they don't have any text cluttering up the design (save for the denoms ...) It really makes the design stand out and turns the chips into a little work of art. I realize this may go against your idea of having an old-school casino-like chip, but really do we need another fictitious casino fantasy set?

3) Single Edge-Spots. Everybody is so crazy about dual edge-spots. Again for me, it clutters up the design of the chip. Edge spots should help discriminate the chips when they are in stacks, but shouldn't be garish or too busy. This brings me to my final point which is why not have a single edge spot color for all chips? Something fairly neutral that works with all the colors of the chips. Call me old-fashioned, but I just don't find Arc-Weld Yellow, Highway-Worker Orange, or Biohazard Green to be very classy.

Maybe some of these points will resonate with you. Having said all that, I have the utmost confidence that what ever you do come up with will no doubt be really cool. And again I am exited to see a project centered around clay instead of ceramic and will no doubt be on the top of the list when it comes time to order....

IMO, once you eliminate text and denominations, the chip just looks generic. It doesn't look like a classic casino chip. The reason there aren't many sets out there with no denominations is because not many people want that.

I mean, if want to go that route, you can just order plain ASM chips with single edgespots.

No text? Whaddya think them cartouches are?

I really much prefer multicolor edge spots to single color.
