[ QUOTE ]
When is it a steal? When there is a raiser and no other callers, is that when I should defend with 89o. Right now I'm calling my BB with any two cards above T and any pairs.

[/ QUOTE ]

well PT considers a steal... when CO or Button openraises. that's what we are looking at in this thread. however you need to consider that steals can occur outside this rigid of a definition. basically you need to also consider who is raising and from what posistion in general.

specifically though..... you are giving up your BB to easily when CO or Button OPENraises.

Miller explains defending against a "steal" nicely in SSHE. You are investing 1/2 BB to make the pot 2BB. Thus, you only need to win greater than 1/3 of the time. Many hands give you that percentage.

If I suspect that someone is consistently trying to steal my blinds, I understand that I must switch to heads up strategy.

I still lose a lot of money in the BB (-.15), but I do believe I am using the right strategy here.

Your blind defense could use some working on.

Your aggression is way too high, aim for 2.5 on the flop and turn, 2 on the river.

Your main problem is that you play until the turn. You still have one street to go.

Look at your WTSD and FRB stats, they suck.

31.7 WTSD, thats really low, it should be 35ish at least.

FRB 45!!! high 30's

Your high won at showdown value also shows that you fold on the river too much.

Your kind of player is quite easy to beat I'd just always let you bet my hand so you dont fold.

If anyone agrees with me and posts reasons they shall recieve a virtual high five.

lol Yeah, I too think it would be interesting with more on this topic. I'll give a virtual high five to everyone who posts their ideas, no matter what they think.

[ QUOTE ]
I would say it is very possible to lose .5/100 or more due to weak blind defense.

[/ QUOTE ]

Someone who defends to little from the BB probably also plays it to little against a raise in other situations too. If you count that in, then I think you can get up to -0.5 BB/100 hands because of weak preflop play in the BB.

I fold my blinds more than anyone here and I am not losing a lot in the blinds. I think his low win rate is due to overaggression, not folding his blinds.

rory brings up a very good point. i also tend to fold my blinds much too often. but, I seem to do fairly well regardless. My blind stats of 88k at 5/10 6max:

BB: VPIP 21/Folded to a steal 63
-0.12/hand

SB: VPIP 26/Folded to a steal 88
-0.06/hand

Is anyone here really making considerably more in these positions?

Please explain how if you are losing more money in the blinds than normal, how it can be the right strategy.

I know it sounds like I'm being a jerk but I'm really not, I'm just curious
