I'm just back to my home from a trip to Chicago, where I won 1st in a 60 person tournament for a WSOP buy-in and $3,000!!

This was my 3rd live tournament ever played - 2nd was the satellite to win my way into this tournament. I can hardly believe that I won the thing.

Thanks to everyone who contributes their insight to this Forum - it is a great place to learn.

I still remember my first tournament win--July 4th, 2002. 20 Players at a local club. $55 with two optional $50 rebuys....$1700 for first place.

Feels good, right?

Were you the older guy in the blue shirt whos picture the floor was taking under the sign? If thats the case I was sitting in the chair right to the left of you as you stood for the shot..I am a big guy with glasses and a blue cap playing NL that day. i also played in the turny, and placed 18th [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I like the idea of the qualifiers, but the blind structure was more like rolling dice then playing cards..you start with 2000$, and the blinds are 25/50 and go up ever 15 minutes. This was a joke if you ask me. i enjoyed myself for the 40 buy in it took me to win my seat, but still a joke. Congrats sir, i hope you do well out there. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

yeah, that was me. Now it will take weeks to get over the depression being called the "older guy" has caused! Anyway, I had a great time and hope you did too. The final hand was quite interesting - I had 88 and the other guy had 33 - when they turned over the flop, the top card was a 3 and I was about to faint. When the dealer spread the cards, an 8 was just below the 3! Thanks for the well wishes - I hope you won a bundle at the NL table!
