I just demolished my Pacific bankroll

Tried to take a shot at a higher limit and got my ass kicked. Some horrid beats, followed by tilt and bad play, and then some more beats, and then some more tilt and bad play. Had 2400 in my Pacific account before the disaster and now have 1200 and a broken keyboard. I smashed it into about 50 pieces. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Just got back from Walmart with my new keyboard and am just praying that I can remember how to win again. Thinking about going out and getting a stink job that pays 10 bucks an hour makes me want to kill myself. Total bankroll is still over 10k, but that's not all dedicated to poker since that's everything. Just going through that type of loss was just such a nightmare for me. I don't handle it very well, and I should work on my anger management. Anyway, I'm not trying to get sympathy, but sometimes it just feels better to say something out loud to people that have gone through the same sht as you. To make matters worse, I proceeded to try to recoup my loss in the stock market today, and daytraded like a fking goon and lost another 600. Tilt sucks man.

Self control is more important than knowing what cards to play. If you dont have that don't bother playing cards as pro. A true pro is ultra-tight with his or her bankroll....

What limit were you playing at? 1,200 in a day at 15-30 is nothing

Good advice lefty,
joedot, it applies to both cards and trading, make sure your bankroll is adequate for both so that you can easily handle the drawdowns for both. Play within your bank roll.

300 or so bb for limit, 30 buyins for NL rings, no more than about 3% of your current roll for trading/trade, adjusting as up or down as you win or lose. Losses should roll off like water off a ducks back.

With 10k (now 9400?) to your name, you are playing with fire. Playing mid limit hold em on this amount of funds is a big risk...and this assumes you're a winning player. Take a deep breath and don't play over your head. Your total bankroll is the total you can safely play with, NOT living expenses. It's quite easy to lose a few grand or more on a bad run at 15-30. I guarantee you will lose your entire bankroll in some sort of gambling venture. You clearly do not have the self control or discipline to be a winning gambler, including poker.

i sympathize with the dude, im sure everyone has had some sort of feeling like that.. some sort of run in on tilt....

i find it funny he runs to walmart to buy a new keyboard though... thats hilarious

oops its 2am, i just busted my keyboard.. can't play online poker.. i run to walmart.. poor cashier dealing with an angry mofo [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I hope you're not right, but I won't rule it out. I have been living off poker for 2 years now, but I had my ups and downs. After I quit my job with only 2k in my roll, I built that to 8k. Then lost about 3k in gambling games, a couple k playing 80/160 on tilt trying to recoup, and lost all but about 200. I took a free 10 bucks on lucky nugget and turned that into 6500 in a month and a half, then grinded up to about 13k, and lost it all in the stock market save a few hundred again. That was last March. Since then I have been playing even better, and took the couple hundred to my present 11k, after this loss. I have learned a lot through these terrible experiences, but I suppose I always will be suceptible to doing something stupid if I'm not extremely careful. Unlike the previous two times, I am a lot more in control of my behaviour, but I obviously have a long way to go to become the perfect untiltable player, as evidenced by the smashed keyboard. If I were to lose what I have again, that will be it. It sucks to have to start all over from basically nothing. I've never had any help from family or anything either, and I would never ask anyone for money. So this is it. Anyway, I did make 500 today playing poker, but I played too high. About 15 minutes of 15/30 on Party, and the rest back at my usual game of 5/10 at Pacific. This isn't the way to get back on track, so after today I am going to try very hard to go back to my daily grind. Anyway, thanks for the advice all, now if you'll excuse me I need to go find the letter Q and Z.
