Re: 7 Stud/8 - Bring-in hand
Not too bad, I think. Strictly speaking it might be slightly negative EV, but given how the other players seem to be playing the implied odds are heavily in your favor. Fours and fives are pretty live, you might scoop by pairing the ace, or maybe even the jack (what on earth does the Q have where he's not raising third? Misplayed QQ or much more misplayed anything-else...)
Between the inflated pot odds and implied odds, I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a card here. --Nate |

Looks fine to me. On fourth street, your hand is pretty dubious, but it's one small bet, and your call closes the action. On fifth, you have an easy fold, even with your two runner-runner straight draws.

Re: 7 Stud/8 - Bring-in hand
Thanks for the posts guys, I appreciate it.
I think I’m getting better about 3rd street, I’ve even thrown some 3-flushes away. I’m working on the other streets and know I need to find the fold button sooner/more often. For nate1729: Seat 4: mucked [4s 6d Qd As 5h 8s Js] - HI: high card Ace; LO: 8,6,5,4,A Thanks again, greenage |

Re: 7 Stud/8 - Bring-in hand
Anyone think a raise on fourth street gets him through to sixth?

Anyone think a raise on fourth street gets him through to sixth? [/ QUOTE ] why re-open the betting when you're closing the action with such a weak holding? |

Re: 7 Stud/8 - Bring-in hand
Because maybe he can get through to sixth. I don't like a raise in that spot, either.

Anyone think a raise on fourth street gets him through to sixth? [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't raise, because I don't want to throw any more into the hand at this point than I have to. Depending on what hero catches on fifth, one of the highs, and also the low, could easily be in a position to put in a bet, killing the hero's "raise to get a free card" play on fourth. The only way I'm putting money in on fourth with this hand is if, as in this case, hero was the last to act, so that he knows the round won't cost him any more. If he was second to act, rather than last, I'd fold to the fourth street bet. |

Re: 7 Stud/8 - Bring-in hand
OK. I understand, There is no situation here where you would take the free card on fifth anyway. If you catch an A,4,5,6 or 7 you're going to bet it. Anything else and you are too far behind anyway. Is that it?
