You people's research skills are terrible.

Nah. Just lazy.

Anyway, I think it's unfortunate that Chris Walken isn't gonna play Willy Wonka.

I agree. When I first head about this project a year or two ago, I thought they were talking about Nick Cage as Wonka. That would have been interesting.

Dude, think about it though. If they made oompa loompas that looked anything like they did in the seventies, political incorrectness would just explode.

The Gene Wilder Wonka was a very disturbed, lonely, angry man. I'm just not seeing that here. For fairness's sake, I'll wait for the actual movie, though.

Well, look at it from Tim Burton's eyes. Would it really be justified in making a movie that similar to the Gene Wilder version? Remakes are often made to show a new dillemma, a new bend in the story, etc. Look what happened with the "Psycho" remake.

If I had to guess, I'd say that this new Tim Burton remake will probably not sit well with viewers who were expecting something alike to the Gene Wilder version, but people will think it's a decent (maybe good) movie nonetheless.

Burton was involved with "James and the Giant Peach" too.
Maybe he is just a big fan of Dahl?
