Re: How to deal with a down swing? (tilt).

Does not sound lame at all 11t. In fact, Tournament Poker and The Art of War is an excellent book applying the concepts of Sun Tzu to tournament poker.

Rolf Slotboom is an accomplished player and writer and his reviews are quite knowledgeable. Nick Christenson, on the other hand, has little grasp of the English language and absolutely no poker...

Re: Finished Finals, Need Summer Reading Reccomendations

Catch 22 is one of the greatest books I have ever read. Laugh out loud funny and extremely entertaining. 1984 is a great book as well but it is the literary equivalent of eating broccoli. You know...

Re: Direction on playing against good aggressive players

Good thread blindcurve and good book advice nightlyraver. What I find interesting is that the book and the thread share a similar philosophy in looking more at situations than cards.

PokerProdigy:

The Making of a Poker Player by Matt Matros sounds exactly what you are looking for. I just finished reading it and it is a very good read. It is not a strategy book by any means...

Re: Do Pros Read Poker Books?

PokerProdigy:

I have read the Art of War numerous times and find it applicable to so many things. It is a tough read the first time through. I did recently read Tournament Poker and The Art of...

Re: Do Pros Read Poker Books?

I believe most of the top pros have read a number of books. I know Daniel N. even has posted book reviews of some of the books he has read on his website. Also, a lot of the players you have...

Re: Complete Book of Hold\'em Poker?

It is a decent book but with the glut of strategy books out there, you can do better. It still has pretty good advice for a beginner.

Re: Book Review: Poker Tournaments And The Art Of War

For what its worth, I found this book to be a great read. It is not a "how to" book for beginners, but is rather a book to get you to concentrate on the processes and practices necessary to succeed....

Re: Negreanu/Ivey/Lindgren article (excerpt from the book Aces and Kings)

I am not sure if this was meant to be a plug for Aces and Kings, but the book seems very interesting. I read the two part excerpt on Stuey Ungar in Cardplayer.com the last two issues and enjoyed...

Re: Anyone read Catalin Barboianu’s “Texas Hold’em Odds?

Never heard of the book but the reviews are telling and often quite funny. However, did anyone notice the sales rank on the link? It was ranked 43. Apparently, those "impartial reviews" are...

Re: anyone glance thru \"tournament poker and the art of war?\"

I read it and found it incredibly worthwhile. If you have an understanding of The Art of War, I think it will help. Although, the author does a good job of breaking it down for everybody. I will...

Re: Mike Sexton\'s World Poker Tour(TM): Shuffle Up and Deal

I agree. This is a book for fans and novices. It is written to be entertaining rather than instructive. That said, fans of the show may find it worthwhile.
