Non-American Winner
 

Is this a bad thing for poker? Its not the big story it has been the last 2 years with moneymaker and fossilman. An unknown from a foreign country. What do people think?

Moneymaker was unknown, too, and Raymer wasn't considered a pro player. Why should it be bad if a non-american player wins?

I don't mean to be a downer, but people seem to spend a lot too much time on this forum thinking about whether this or that is "good" for poker.

i think the question is more about being inquistive then posters actually trying to apply the results. for that reason alone its a good question.

I don't know where I stand on this or a more pressing matter ... what would be better for poker? 1) I go take a nasty dump -or- 2) Make some breakfast and then go have my intestinal event?

Not sure about the American/non-American thing, but I think the fact that 73o won a guy $7.5 million is certainly going to have a positive effect for TAGs.

In fact, I believe that Hachem is only the 2nd winner in 36 years not to be an American (Carlos Mortensen in 2001 was the first).

PS Scotty Nyguen is an American citizen.
