I heard in Rounders 2 Mike moves to Vegas and vouches for the wrong guy. He needs to make 15k in 5 days. He is right about to get into his car and drive all over Vegas looking for the big games, but just when you think he is going to hit up the big games at the Bellagio he pulls in to Quizno's and gets a hot sub, and drives right home. He flips open his laptop and plays 8 tables of 15/30, and using expert hand-reading and people-reading techniques, makes the 15k in 3 days, hops on a plain to New York, bones that hot lawyer who dumped him, and the movie ends.

You forgot the part where he gives hourly updates on 2+2.

And the part where he spams the synopsis of his next movie on RGP.

You forgot to mention the opening scene where he almost loses his entire bankroll in a 50/100 game. On the final hand, he flops a set of 8's, but Clarkmeister gets runners for a gutshot straight with J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.

There's a very tense scene where Mike anxiously waits for the funds to be transferred into his Neteller account. Just as the bookie is about to break his legs, MIke clicks the "transfer funds" button in the nick of time!

can't believe you can say that about a movie that has such Ed Norton(who is absolutely phenomenal) and a great rest of the cast in it.

Ed Norton is great in virtually everything he does.

He couldn't save that movie. I'm not going to think it's great just because it's about poker. It was a dumb movie.

25th Hour was awful, and merely sounded the final bell for all those who used to think Spike Lee was still a worthwhile director. It's insanely heavy-handed, maudlin, and incredible.

Awful dreck, poorly written, badly performed, stupidly conceived, and tastelessly solicitous.

Other than that, I liked it a lot.

Keeping the Faith, was funny as hell.
The Score wasn't bad at all, quite enjoyable
Death to Smoochy was okay, not great
Rounders is a good movie, and because it's a somewhat realistic poker movie, I bought it.
Wow I guess I like pretty much all the Ed Norton movies I've seen.
But the same can be said for Matt Damon, except for stuck on you.

the response was given after the assertion that he was great in everything he does. whether or not one likes those movies, i doubt anybody can objectively say that his acting was worth remembering in any of those roles.

Yea, I guess I should read the entire thread before posting, lol.
However, his role in The Score I think was played very well. He played the part of the slightly handicapped stuttering kid to perfection. O--Ok--Okay Danny--o--ok

Ever see "Primal Fear"? Ed Norton was outstanding in that movie.

In the opening scene Mike D is at the $300-$600 game at the Bellagio and cleaning up, until he takes a 2-outer beat from JoeyBitch, but Worm comes out of nowhere to 'get delicate' with Joey B and get Mike's money back....

Rushmore

You're right. He deserves an Oscar for that miserable scene where he's talking to himself in the mirror.

I thought he was playing his character from American History X, a clearly flawed, yet vastly superior film.

So, yes--I loved 25th Hour, now that you mention it.

Rushmore
06-16-2004, 03:16 PM
It seems as if nobody in this entire thread has seen one little movie that Edward Norton was in that was pretty good. I'm surprised nobody caught this little art-cinema gem while it was in release. It's no Bread and Tulips and Chocolat, or Under the Tuscan Moon, or anything, it's just....

FIGHT CLUB, for the love of God!!

What's wrong with you people????!!!!!

i did not mention the movies that he is generally in which he is generally considered to be good because the assertion was that he was great in everything he did. i was pointing out reasons why i don't believe this is true.

Yah, you don't have to agree with me.

I'll amend my statement by saying I haven't seen him in anything where he wasn't great.

Nah. I'll go back to my original assertion: He's outstanding in everything he does.

Edward Norton is a god. You aren't. Phft!

Maybe this Rounders 3, but I heard that it was Worm who vouched for the wrong guy, and had 5 days to make $15K. He created a Wormbot and had it playing multiple tables at Party, but had his money confiscated when officials noticed a dramatic upsurge in the frequency of "Women are the mother****ing rake" lines in chat. He needs help, so he interrupts Mike while he is porking his lawyer girlfriend.

Mike goes and finds Teddy KGB who has become a titled LAG since his last defeat. On the final hand, Mike bluff raises his 52 at the river on a AKQJ3 board, and Teddy puts him all-in. Mike's about to muck, when he notices Teddy's tell for the anti-nuts (my term for the worst possible hand) -- his wet crotch (not sure why Mike was looking there -- a definite hole in the plot) and a faint but growing smell of urine in the air.

"I call," Mike says confidently. He shows his 52, and we see from the new hole-card cam that Teddy had 42. Vince Van Patten is heard in the background screaming "Tremendous!" while Mike Sexton is praising Mike's poker instincts. The cash falls from the ceiling and Worm runs to pick it up, while Mike dumps his lawyer gf and takes Shana Hiatt to his hotel room and bones her.

his best are Primal Fear, American History X, Fight Club...i doubt that anyone would disagree...

agreed..can't believe the lack of love for 25th hour. I guess most people only like fast paced movies with non stop action. 25th Hour is character driven, rather than plot driven...most movies are the opposite.

It's funny, because I know at least a little bit about movies, and I thought "Oh, yeah--heartthrob Brad Pitt gets an excuse to take his shirt off and David Fincher gets a chance to pretend he's a spooky guy, etc."

Hey, I can be wrong. Everyone was great. It really is a GREAT movie, which is saying something, I think.

Yes, and it is a very good movie.

The timing was a little off, as it was the second in the quick duo of soft-pedophile movies which included it and American Beauty, a film I thought inferior to the former, and, I thought over-ballyhooed.

Yeah, agreed. Happiness was superbly twisted. When American Beauty came out everyone was wetting themselves over it, and I went and saw it and thought it was really great. Then I watched it a few more times and there's some really sacharine crap in that steaming pile. Liked seeing what's-her-names ta-tas though.
