I had a "feeling" this might be a winner, but remembered previous advice not to chase AK if you miss on the flop. Is a gutshot enough to chase? Certainly not against the raise I think but should I have bet it?

In hand #1, I would bet the flop. You are the PF raiser and by checking, you concede that you have high cards which you are hoping to pair or a set to slowplay. You flop bet will scare a few away and possibly take down the pot right there with one small bet. Also, it has the possibility of knocking the button out for a chance at a free card (to hit your 6 overcard outs plus the 4 gutshot outs). A check/fold after missing your outs on the turn is the easy part.

In hand #2, checkraise the turn after hitting your K. It is most likely good.
