No way, unless it's a par 3 course, is he breaking 100 on his 2nd time out. Now, 140 might be a close call. It seems to be a common range for many in their first few times out. If he has any comfort in his swing, id say 125 at best.

This is, of course, without any major range time or studying his swing.

Improvements at this level seem to improve by 10s of strokes.

144 was a good line. 100 is not.

I'm sorry but this question is absurd. My dad has been playing golf for 15 years and has broken 100 exactly once on a course where the avg. par 4 was about 300 yards and there was 1 par 5. To break 100 on a second round ever would be incredible.

I played golf for several years, including 4 semesters in college. I seldom broke 100 without cheating (mulligans, pickups, etc..) I think I only broke it 3-4 times, and that is after about 50-60 rounds.
