WSOP

There has been a lot of controversy on RGP about who is going to (or not) attend this years WSOP, and if they are whether they will be tipping the dealers, etc. I haven't seen anything on 2+2 yet, and I'm wondering what the concensus of opinions are over here. Besides all the "Becky" controversy, my concern now would be if they take in millions of dollars in entry fees, how secure do you all feel that the money will be distributed to the winners as opposed to going to bail out some other part of the financially troubled casino? Would you accept a check from them for $1,000,000? Also, many of the quality dealers who I know have said they will NOT be dealing it this year because of the expected shortage of tokes. Comments from any past/present participants?

The dealers did better at last years' WSOP then they ever did. It was the floor people who were unhappy. Of course these floor people don't mention anything about the money that players hand them personally. They just complain that Becky didn't give them enough. As to should you tip? given that they are taking 6 percent from each tournament, that should be plenty to cover the tips.

I really don't see this being a problem. If this happen it would create a gigantic scandal. I assume that the gaming comission would step in and make sure that everyone was paid properly.

You can always take cash. Walk across the srteet and deposit it at the Nugget. Then your money should be very safe.

These tournaments are famous for lots of break-in type dealers who deal simply terrible. I don't see how this will impact dealer quality one bit.

From what I have read, NONE of the 6% is going towards tips of either dealers or floor. That is going strictly to Binions. Did I understand this wrong? Thank you

That is how I understand the 6% vig (no part of it is being used as dealer tokes, its use is for administrative costs).

some folks do believe that tokes are covered in the 6%


here on 2+2, shortly after the 6% was made public,there was a post which compared this years total cost to that of last year.....concluded that this year is LESS! !


perhaps they have money problems, but seems foolish to even think they would fail to pay.....that would put them is REAL trouble

this clearly states 6% is for house only - leaving the dealers and tourney personnel out in the cold, and many of the players saying they will NOT toke on top of the 6%

Rest assured that Becky the Bi*** is making plenty of money and is in no financial trouble. She is just continuing her trend of screwing over the customer and removing any bit of value that the customer used to get when it was Benny or Jack's place. That place has almost no capital expense, has one of the lowest payrolls for a casino its size, still gets plenty of good sized action for being a total dump, etc. What would make you think they would go under? To put it in perspective, the Lady Luck a couple blocks away is struggling terribly, yet is still generating cash flow. That should tell you that no matter how much the gaming numbers downtown look bad, the businesses there are still winning more than they are losing.
