I have. However my good friend and poster/lurker Fred G Sanford usually plays 24-36 hour sessions. He doesnt need sleep he drinks the blood of christian babies to keep energized. I just drink Red Bull /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Why do I feel like the use of his full name including middle initial are making him somewhat of a folk legend?

You didn't watch many reruns of 70's TV shows, do you? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Even Daunte Culpeper made a Fred Sanford mention in reference to his current injury.

You've made me feel strangely young even though I doubt we're 3 years apart. I'm thrilled by this. And no, I never watched Sanford and Son. If the title we're so intuitive I wouldn't even know that Redd guy was Sanford.

Now you get the reference.

I have. a few years ago, several times. once when i was with a friend who was playing a marathon session as well. i got a couple hours of sleep in while he played. then i came back in to play more.

also, one night when my sleep/work schedule was severely different to that of most other people, i did this. i was used to working overnight shifts, and had a night off. i went to play at the local casino. when the night wound down and the room closed (approx. 430am) i went to the car and took a little nap. then came back in around 10am after the room opened up again.

When I used to play 6/12 there was one regular who would constantly fall asleep at the table in between hands, and the dealer would have to prod him to pick up his cards, which he would then usually fold and go back to sleep.

He was a long haul truck driver.

there was a 5-10 stud player at mohegan who would do the same thing. He would get to the room friday afternoon and not leave until sunday evening and around saturday/sunday early AM he would start falling asleep between hands which must've been difficult because he played almost all of them. I'd see dealers deal him out asleep for their entire shifts.

i did this when i went to Atlantic City from Boston. too cheap to get a hotel room at the time i guess, well, not too cheap but certainly too broke.

take my friend's advice, sleep in your car with all the doors locked and a knife on your chest

A few weeks ago I was playing, and planning on hitting a motel by AC for the night. I ended up getting to the car and was so tired I just put the seat back to "close my eyes"....sure enough I slept 7 /images/graemlins/shocked.gif hours woke up and went right back in to play /images/graemlins/laugh.gif. So there I was fully rested and feeling good (and saved about $80). So last week I went down with a pillow and sleeping bag, put down the back seats of my SUV and slept very well for 9 hours. Now my dilema is this: I have absolutely no problem sleeping in my car. I camp a lot and the car is even more comfortable than a campground floor. I shower before I go down on Friday, and shower when I get home on Saturday, so thats not a problem. The only problem I have is the perception of other people, I mean hey the car even has an alarm /images/graemlins/grin.gif. Anyone have any thought on going down with the intention of sleeping in the car?

Obviously none of you are married. My wife would kill me if I did this...

I have friends who live in AC and let me crash at their place.

I march to my own drum beat, therefore I care less what people think about me.

Yes, but this is after he's worked all day and has driven up to Fox, so his awake time must be extreme.

Ah, now I get it. Makes perfect sense.

Ummm...you left out working out at the gym after working all day. Yes..very extreme.

Ah, now I get it. Makes perfect sense.

Does it..or do I sense some sarcasm? /images/graemlins/blush.gif

You guys flushed me out again.

Allow me to weigh in on these comments.

1)Sleeping in car - Only when Im driving home. I thank the inventor of those rumble strips that scare the [censored] out me on the side of Route 95 when Im trying to make my way back to NY after 40 or 50 hours.

2) Fred G Sanford Folk hero- Mr. Lick, if you have a middle initial I would be happy to use it.

3) Drinking Blood - Gross exaggeration - Does high school count?

4)70s reruns - Thank god for TV Land

5)Extreme awake time - I'm sorry I require less sleep than the average bear.

Talljoe:

Thinking of logging into FW this weekend for another marathon session. Will you be present?

Thank you for your time

One time when I was at the Trop in AC, the player to my left kept falling asleep in the middle of hands. He would bet and then someone else would raise, by the time the action got back to him he was asleep. He would wake up and call. Then by the time the dealer would turn the next card over and it was his turn to act, he would be asleep again.

Whenever he was awake he kept repeating the phrase, "and a dog named boo."

And I would never sleep in my car. Not because of what people would think - I just can't sleep in cars, trains, planes, etc.

Simple, get the back windows tinted, then if you sleep in the back nobody will see you.

Thanks Fred, I hope you didn't lynch her, save me a vial for next time. I had my largest winning session yet. Sorry I didn't stay but I couldn't see over my chips so it was getting hard to see the board.

Peace,
JT

My only advice, if your going to sleep during the day, move the car from the hot sunny parking lot into the cool shady garage. I slept in my car in the sun once and woke up feeling like a poached egg, only with more ass sweat.

Good stuff. what game were you drubbing? I the stack statement is correct, I'd guess the 4-8 since 400 $2 chips would be quite a site. For sheer profit, I hope it was a bigger game. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

It was a bigger game, the 5/10 w/ the Kill. I went 5 Kill wins in a row that included getting check-raised on the river as I held QUADS! Good time.

What do you consider a big bet in that game? $10?

Sounds like a nice session. Nothing like walking to the cashier with multiple racks.

Yes, I walked out w/$955 in the plus. It was nuts. Plus the $500 I had in red (I started slow and rebought), the 5 towers of 60 reds was a nice thing to see. Wild game.

I've never done this on purpose, but there have been several times that I've overestimated my ability to drive after leaving a long session (this happened to me recently when I drove from Chicago to Minneapolis to play at Canterbury). I've had to pull off at rest areas and get some zzzzzs.

When I used to play live the low limit table at Casino Rama has some of the most ubsurd sick maniacs I have ever seen. You know they type who dumped their entire cheques at the tables(work, welfare, disability or pension)and these cats would literally sleep in the bus waiting room. It amazed me sleeping in your car is nothing compared to these guys.

I don't think it's a big deal at all as long as you park someplace safe. I've done a lot of sleeping in cars, vans etc (I'm a musician), and the biggest thing to consider is safe parking. an suv sounds perfect for this?

btw, are you an nyc player? I play at ps quite frequently.

I have a couple of times. Once this summer, after a game I couldn't leave, I was too tired to keep driving and it was too hot in the car, so I ended up taking a nap on a random front lawn for a few hours. Woke when the sun came up /images/graemlins/smirk.gif
