Opponent in this hand is unknown but seems to be on the aggressive side. We both have about $2k to start the hand.

I have 33.

5 Handed w/ one poster, folded to me on button. I make it 40. One blind calls. Villain calls.

Flop is J /images/graemlins/club.gif8 /images/graemlins/club.gif3 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif He checks. I pot it for $120. He calls.

Turn is 8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif He pots it for $360. I call.

River is J /images/graemlins/heart.gif He pots it for $1k. I ?

Why didn't you raise the turn?

I hope this thread isnt about how you made a great call.

It kind of looks like perhaps he may have an 8 or J.

Or NFD and Hero made an amazing call on the river. But he still should have raised the turn to charge the villain to draw dead.

I cannot believe you guys think you should raise the turn. His bet is likely to be a flush or straight draw of some sorts. He might not even draw to it if I raise since the board is paired. Additionally, If I call and he hits, I'll win a good chunk, and if I call and he misses, I'll still win a good chunk. I think you guys are getting results oriented.

you people who say raise the turn are being silly.

calling is FIIINE, if he's on a draw he folds to a raise anyway; if he hits his card, thats money for you, and if he misses and bluffs then thats great too. Why would you want to compromise this.

We can't be results oriented.

he showed that the river J, that could have compelled people to tell him "raise turn" which is just a cop out answer. calling the turn is good, and the river is what is interesting about the hand.

I also like a turn raise even if its just to get more money in the pot so you can get allin on the river.

i'm guessing you called and YHWG

assuming the unknown player makes rational decisions, his line really doesn't make sense for either J or 8

with J, I don't often see people leading that turn for pot

and with 8, It's quite reasonable for OP to have a J, so leading river like that doesn't quite make sense...

but I dont know if we can justify a call just based on "suspicious" betting patterns..

That was pretty much my thought process.

whitelime (12:01:55 AM): im considering whether to respond to it or not
whitelime (12:02:02 AM): you know the other reason peoples responses are "raise the turn"
whitelime (12:02:12 AM): they are results oriented to the point where if I change the river to a blank
whitelime (12:02:19 AM): they wont say the same [censored]
Prevaricator (12:05:26 AM): i responded for you
whitelime (12:05:32 AM): i did too
whitelime (12:05:32 AM): hah
whitelime (12:05:48 AM): lol
whitelime (12:05:50 AM): we said the same [censored]
Prevaricator (12:05:53 AM): yeah
Prevaricator (12:05:54 AM): almost exact
Prevaricator (12:09:20 AM): Taikunin is being stupid
Prevaricator (12:09:33 AM): im trying to think of a clever way to flame him
whitelime (12:11:04 AM): lol
whitelime (12:12:08 AM): hes gotta be dumb
whitelime (12:12:12 AM): if he didnt understand "results oriented"
whitelime (12:12:21 AM): as referring to the counterfeiting
whitelime (12:13:48 AM): lol
whitelime (12:13:51 AM): check out his last post
whitelime (12:13:54 AM): i love the reasoning
Prevaricator (12:13:54 AM): yeah i saw
Prevaricator (12:14:01 AM): lets flame him
Prevaricator (12:14:02 AM): but how
whitelime (12:14:07 AM): brainstorm
Prevaricator (12:14:24 AM): hm
Prevaricator (12:14:37 AM): all of his posts are flameworthy too thats the thing
Prevaricator (12:14:46 AM): but the last one is just rediculously stupid
whitelime (12:14:47 AM): haha
whitelime (12:14:51 AM): we should just cut/paste this convo
Prevaricator (12:15:01 AM): ha
