Quick monitor questions

1. Can I use two different size monitors at different resolutions? e.g. 1 17" at 1280x1024 and a Dell 2001FP and 1600x1200

2. Can you recommend to me a cheap but decentish video card capable of supporting said monitors?

1 Yes
2 Something that's a few versions below the current 'brand new top of the range' type.. like a Radeon 9700, would be good, and you can pick them up quite cheaply on eBay

If you plan to get a midrange card, get a fanless one. It will save you trouble cleaning the fan and alot of the computers noise will be gone.
