So I was really in need of some emergency money and went to pawn a PS2 with 9 games and 3 controllers, 18 dvds, and 4 vhs movies.
How much do you think I got for all of that?

That's a joke. Why did you sell it? Was the emergency that urgent that you got rid of all that stuff for 1/10th of it's price. You could've sold everything on eBay and gotten about $500 within a week IMO.

Well i plan on going and getting it back, but crap man, i expected more than that I guess...

Pawn shops just give you a small loan using your stuff as collateral. You aren't necessarily selling the stuff.
I am apparently young and naive, someone explain to me how the pawn shops work? I thought you just took [censored] there and sold it? Guess not...

I needed some emergency money one time and tried the pawn shop route. based on that horrible experience, I'm guessing $20?
Edit: $60, you did pretty good! I tried to pawn a newish tv, a gamecube with 5 games, a great stereo all together worth around $1500, they offered me $50 and made a joke about junkies. I told them to go [censored] themselves and they called the cops and said I must have robbed someone's house (obviously, I hadn't, but I look like scumbag so they must have assumed)

I think Pawn shops generally do 10%. Maybe even less. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Out of curiosity, how much interest did they charge you, and how long do you have to get it back before they sell it?

They don't sell your stuff until you fail to repay your loan. I have no idea how long they give you to repay, though.

How Pawn Shops Work (http://money.howstuffworks.com/pawnshop.htm)
gernerally the juice is 20% PER MONTH! and u get 3 months to pay it off... after that, u can buy it at (pawnshop) retail price OR the principle+interest.... whichever is cheaper.

I know how they work but what I was basically saying was that Pawn Shops are a ripoff. Borrowing money from credit card companies is also a ripoff but that is a whole other thread.

$50. I was just in a pawn shop. Me and a friend walked around there eating Phad Thai. Then we went to the porn shop. Hilarity ensued.

sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you didn't know how they worked by replying to you - it was just an addition to the discussion

Nice catch on them both being from Seattle. I remembered another one here but did not know it was dids.
maybe its just clever and the ph is supposed to be pronounced with an "f". 'clever'

Maybe there really isn't a "correct" english spelling for words in a non-english language that uses a totally different alphabet.

Some punk was trying to tell me it was pronounced "put." He said "p-h-u-d" right after. "That does not spell put.." Then he shut up.
Upon close inspection of the Chang Thai menu.. it is indeed Pad Thai.
