Reminded me of a story from a few years ago for some reason..... completely off-topic but here you go:

The world's last and final Pyraneese mountain goat was living under 24hr survelliance in the wild and free. Fortunately, it was female, and they had sperm preserved from the last male. There was a chance at ressurecting the species from the brink of extinction.

And then a tree fell on it.

Couldn't they have transplanted the female stuff to some other type of goat and then inseminate it?
