Anybody know the probability that A-2-x-x will come through for the low on any given hand??? Also, the probability that it will get quartered??? I posted this in other poker forum too.

I've been playing on-line lately and the last 8 times i've had A-2-x-x, I've had the low cracked by high cards, 2's, or A's. I figure this probably isn't that unusual but I would be intrested in knowing the numbers.

The probability that 3 of the five board cards are in the range 3,4,5,6,7, or 8 is

c[24, 3]*c[50 - 24, 2] /c[50, 5] = 31%.

The probability that 3 or more board cards are in the range 3,4,5,6,7, or 8 is

(c[24, 3]*c[50 - 24, 2] +
c[24, 4]*c[50 - 24, 1] +
c[24, 5] )/c[50, 5.] = 46.1%

Does that help?
