Streaming video problem, where to start

Lately I have had trouble viewing streaming video, primarily of WMV files in an embedded Windows Media Player. When I try to view one, the embedded plaer shows, but the video won't load and the screen remains blank. I have no idea where to even start in addressing this problem, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

This Codec pack should solve your problems. It will install Media Player Classic though.
