10 handed.

"hero" has 76o in the big bling.

A (15/8) tight-aggressive player (solid postflop, but a little weak) open raises from UTG+2. A really bad loose passive player cold calls in MP2. The poster in the CO folds. SB folds.

Hero gets 6.5:1 - and calls.

Is this bad?

A tad bit too loose for my tastes (I'd like about 8.5-9:1), but it's better than calling with QJo.

I'd love to see another player in. The only good thing happening here is we have nice relative position if we do make something on the flop.

I was reading about these hands the other day. (in HEPFAP?) One nice thing about hitting our hand is that it will most likely miss UTG+2.

That said, I don't think I call here. Another caller and I might.

i've been thinking 98o is a much easier call and for some reason 87o is as well, but i'm getting concerned with T9o. Do you think T9o is similar enough to QJo to muck it?

enough said, if Entity ain't playing it, I'm not. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would like one more caller in there. But like you said, its not a dominated hand, so you go that going for ya.

I think we'd see 99+, AJs+, and KJs+ here most often. With that range in mind, T9 seems much safer than than QJ.

"Hi, my name is tiltaholic and I play marginal connected unsuited crap in the BB."

Not to nitpick, but I think you need you need to write the .5 off as rake and your odds are really 6:1. Unless you're playing 30/60 or something.

Ideally you'd be getting a bit better odds, but I don't mind this as long as you take the tack of minimizing your losses after the flop as much as possible (I know, Hey Thanks Captain Obvious!)

fine. whatever. as long as we agree that 54o is an automatic 3-bet. the results don't lie...

Zing! And the Canadian Army surrenders.

Nice job hijacking your own thread.

Are you saying that it's better to call with 76o than QJo in this situation? If so, then you just blew my mind. I would call QJo and fold 76o, so I'm obviously missing a key concept here....

QJ is a lot more likely to be a dominated hand against a pfr than 76
