I'll be sad to see Wet N Wild go. Always had a good time there.

"I'll be sad to see Wet N Wild go. Always had a good time there."

Bummer. The Royal Flush will indeed be missed.

The article is kinda confusing. Is this new ferris wheel 560 feet high or 12 stories? Isn't 12 stories only 140 feet or so?

Also, that budget number ($650M) seems awfully low for a man-made lake full of yachts in the middle of the desert. I didn't think they built anything on the strip for less than $1B these days anyway.

Seems especially low since the Ferris Wheel itself is budgeted at $100mm.

Awful location too. I can only see it working if someone else decides to develop the empty land on the other side of the street. I think that 2 mega resorts next to each other could build the foundation for creating a "North Strip" that was respectable. I doubt that just one could do that.

"Build it and they will come."

--While waiting my turn on the Bomb Bay last summer, I couldn't help but to notice the crack houses as far as the eye could see.

I think you're right about the three resort effect, though. Seems like that might be enough to bring it all together.

I'm a big fan of the Blue Niagra myself.

They just got done building 2 luxury condo buildings right in that same area (between the Sahara and the LV Hilton). And I think there is another smaller Mariott property being built just north of the Guiness Book/Arby's location. Maybe its the first stages in a revitalization.

In their favor, these new places will be much closer to the OG. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Le Reve is already getting built between the Venietian and Wet 'n' Wild so things are under way on the North end.

Oh yeah, forgot about Le Reve... When is that thing due to open BTW?

There's a good reason why Robin Williams isn't funny anymore. He does the same routine over and over.

They just started the foundation of Le Reve about 4-6 weeks ago. I don't think it's opening until at least 2005.

I'm impressed - you managed to refer to naked women without linking a porn site. Bravo.

(Or maybe you simply couldn't find the OG website. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif)
