seat 4 is a fairly poor player. The prior hand he pushed a 876 low when I was showing 345 on the board. The question is...5th street. I pick up two pair when seat 7 pairs the door card. ONe of his aces is dead, and I don't think he has an ace in the hole. Seat 8 is showing zero strength so I don't think he even has a pair of kings. Is it right to raise?

On 6th, my sixes were dead and I couldn't remember if I had seen any fives out (although I was sure I had at least one live). I decided backing off and calling it down was the right move. I was prepared to dump my hand if seat 7 or 8 suddenly came alive.

7 Card Stud High-Low ($0.5/$1), Ante $0.25, Bring-In $0.25 (hand converter (http://www.geocities.com/greenage22/7StudConverter.hta.txt))

Raising fifth street is atrocious. Folding is much better than raising.

Fold on fourth

Folding isn't allowed when the pot is this big and you have a pair + three to a 6-high straight. He's getting almost 10:1 here.

I'll accept that, I was sure raising was a bad move on my part. But, would calling be better than folding?

I would at least consider bringing it in for a full bet. The call on fourth is correct, especially since it closes the action. Fifth is interesting. I don't think the raise is atrocious myself. If you can force out the other low hand (unlikely given what you've said), you've accomplished a lot. You should have the best high hand, but you're probably not enough of a favorite to raise purely for value. This could come down real ugly. I think I call and see what happens on sixth. I think you were right to check and call on sixth and seventh. If you had been out of position relative to the bettor, it would have been tougher.
