I was recently told by somone that a multitabler should only be playing around 10% of their hands. I thought that this was too tight to be possible. I am just curious, how many hand are all you multitablers playing?

That just defies logical thinking. You should play many tables the same as you play one table if it's a winning style for you.

I think your game is weak if you tighten up just because you are multi-tabling.

That is what i thought, but i wasn't sure. He told me that way it eliminates the time needed to think about marginal hands.

You should tighten up in really marginal spots because you're more apt to misplay and they might not be +EV anymore. You should also tighten up in marginal spots when you've entered a pot at a few other tables, particularly if you have good but not great holdings in large, multiway pots.

If your percentage dips by over 1% you are overadjusting.

I'm amazed at how many chose 11-15. I'd like to know who is playing 15% or less of their hands and why.

I play on Phil's Top 10 Hands...which would mean 5% or less...and that I suck... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am usually somewhere around 12%. I don't know why exactly. However with the change in party NL blind structure my VPIP will go up.

If you have some specific questions on the why part it may help me answer it. Mostly I just found that was best for me.

I play 2 4 and 3 6 on party, vpip is 13% and im at 2.5bb/100 over 30k hands.

I didn't really mind being really tight when I was multitabling. These stats are from about 8 months ago and I've loosened up considerably since then.

Over 87k hands.

VPIP- 11.69
BB/100- 2.00
PFR- 7.90

I know this isn't a real large sample size, but it's pretty decent. You can still make money playing pretty tight 8 tabling. I know I was missing out on some EV so I slowly loosened up since then.

Ok, thanks. So my friend is full of [censored], i don't need to play that much tighter when multitabling. Now that I think about it, when I made the poll I shouldn't have put in the 1-5 option.

Thanks.

I think that tighetning up by 2% should be the max for switching from 1-table to multi.

There are a LOT of VP 11-15 players in the SS forum (and even the M/H forum). I haven't even looked at the poll yet....but there are just so many people at VP 13-14 who insist that they can't figure out what hands they should be adding.

I think VP 18-21 is pretty reasonable for the 2/4-3/6 full games. even though I'm not playing there currently I can't imagine it's changed THAT much that this would have changed.

VP 13 is just too tight.
And VP-10 to multi-table is flat-out ridiculous.

However, I have found many multi-tablers who do this (gametime+ stats) and I enjoy having them at my table.

Those who think the games are tough because the table VP is only 24 or whatever need no consider the 2 or 3 VP-11 players who are dragging that average down. They aren't going to lose a ton of money obviously...but they pose no significant threat, are usually easy to steal from...and are equally easy to get out of the way of when they actually catch something.

The OP's multi-tabling VP-10 frined is more than welcome to sit-in at my tables ANYTIME.

I agree Bob. When I'm at a table I love to see 2 or 3 total rocks, and then a combo of loose passives and a LAG or 2 thrown in for good measure. You can even get by with 4 rocks, all you really need is one LAG and two other fish to make the table VERY profitable.

FWIW, I was under 15 VPIP until about the last two months. I've been working hard on getting up to the 17-20 range and have been at 17-18 for the last month. It's almost too easy and comfortable to be a 13 VPIP; I think that's a large part of the problem many people have trying to change. You have to make yourself play hands like QT offsuit to get that number up.

I adhere to SSH starting hands suggestions and find I tighten up as the limit goes up due to preflop aggression of other players.

.5/1 18%

2/4 17%

3/6 16%

Those numbers havent changed as a result of adding more tables. If anything my VPIP goes up as i approach 8 tables, normally due to 3betting hands such as J4o... /images/graemlins/smile.gif
