What time does the market open?

I want to dump some of my tech stocks to buy some poker stocks, but the market is always closed by the time I wake up. What time can I start trading?

Nice to see you're up - you can trade right now. The market opens at 9:30 a.m. EST and closes at 4:00 p.m. If you don't know trading hours you should probably stay away from investing in the stock market.

Just because I don't know the trading hours doesn't mean I am incapable of picking good stocks.... my portfolio has tripled over the last 2 years. It could be luck, but I have consistently picked winners before I even had money to invest. Research can be done 24/7.
