evan, are you going to vegas?

Evan

I'll go. Figure out travel methods and let me know.

EDIT: GoT also said he would go a few days ago. I think Dave is going straight there, which I will not be doing.

Probably quite a bit if you're driving to LV and back. I don't think you want to put that many miles on it. If you want to hold off on it for a day or so, I can drive.

When I lived in the Bay Area flights between Vegas/SF/LA were routinely $80-120 roundtrip.

GoT said we can drive in like 3 hours. Seems like a pretty doable drive.

I'll probably try and make it out to LA on one of the weekends though it'll be right around the time of my finals.

They're about $100 now (after tax and security fees) on southwest if you order 14 days in advanced.

OMG, I'm totally playing Mexican Poker, whatever the fcuk that is.

sthief09
02-23-2005, 11:45 AM
mexican stud? it's a variation of 5 card stud. you get dealt 2 down cards. you pick one to turn face up. betting round. you get dealt another down card. you pick one to turn up. betting round, etc until you're dealt a 5th card. there's a lot of deception involved.

sfer

If there's a home game it absolutely has to be rotation and must include Triple Draw.

Evan

[ QUOTE ]

HOW TO PLAY Mexican poker is played with a 41-card deck. The 8's, 9's and 10's are removed and a joker is added. If the joker is received as an up card it may be used as an ace or to complete a straight or flush. If the joker is received as a down card it is wild. The cards are dealt clockwise; beginning left of the dealer button. The dealer button rotates clockwise after each hand is complete. Each player will receive two cards on the initial deal, one face up, and the other face down. After each betting round is complete, players may expose their down card and receive their next card face down. A Mexican poker hand is composed of a total of 5 cards. The player with the highest hand wins the pot. GAME RULES The player may expose their down card and receive the next card face down. This action must be complete prior to the deal of the next card, which may be dealt up or down depending on whether or not the previous card was opened. A Joker received as a down card and later exposed by the player remains as a wild card.

Ok--I need a recap. What days are people going to be in Vegas/LA/Bay Area?

My younger sister is visiting me from the 5th to the 12th. I was planning on booking a flight to LA on the 13th after I figured out where I was going to crash. If we're going to Vegas, stuff gets more complicated for me, so I'll have to start setting crap up today.

You guys can get a rental car for like $50/day(insurance included) and drive to Vegas. It's about a 4 hour drive, can be done in less if you are aggressive/speed.

Last time I tried to get tickets to Vegas for April, the cheapest I found was $130 for roundtrip.

BottlesOf
02-23-2005, 02:38 PM
Don't you need to be over 25 for renting cars at reasonable rates? Don't forget to account for gas costs, and giving it back to them with a full tank.

Some places rent to 21 and older, some don't even charge extra because you're 21. If you guys were renting out of LA I can refer you to some places I've rented at for good rates and the lady didn't care that we were 22 or whatever.

Also, if you've got 3or 4 guys in the rental car splitting gas and the cost of the rental, this is way cheaper than flying.

Yeah I was thinking about this last night. I figured it'd be pretty easy to get at least 5 racks a trip out of their in a backpack. Getting them back in and cashing-out of a backpack would be harder.

Really? What do you think they'd do if you walked in carrying 10 racks of chips and cashed them in?

I think they may look at you like you are retarded, but they will surely pay you and take their chips.

Michael Davis
02-23-2005, 07:42 PM
Yeah, after they do a thorough inspection of them. Or they might not but they would if you brought in black. Seriously, if you were going to counterfeit chips, $1s would be the way to go.

I carry chips larger than $100 out of Commerce all the time, as I'm sure a lot of others do as well. It's not uncommon. It's easier to transport $10k worth of large chips than $10k worth of bills. It's not like it's strictly against the rules or anything. They just might not like us taking that many from them plus the racks. The other week at the Mirage, we took like 5 racks up to our room for a home game, and then a few days later we took 4 racks up to Tommy's room for another game. It's a little different since we didn't have to walk out the valet entrance or anything, but still it's not that big a deal.

i've already figured out that he used his Asianess (which I'm pretty sure is fake anyway) to rig the site. I am working on finding a new game right now.

I actually didn't even play him in connect 4. Private Joker pwned him while I put $15 on each game laying 4:1. Right after we made the bet My internet went out so I had no idea what was going on. I called him and told him I'd run the bet as many times as he wanted. So he calls me ~2 last night and informs me that he ows me $75. /images/graemlins/grin.gif Private Joker rules.
