Why overbet the flop? Did you lose this hand to trips or a straight?

I'd raise more preflop or limp this early.

Played fine, sucks if you got riverd.

5 saw the flop, so I imagine he wanted to get rid of any flush draws. This is a $5, so they could've called preflop with anything??

"Did you lose this hand to trips or a straight?"

I'd say someone rivered quads!!!

If he got rivered by a flush I'd be very surprised... well, I guess a draw might call a flop overbet in a $5 game.

Am I giving the villain too much credit to think that he hit a set or a straight on the flop? You know what they say about overbets...

EDIT: Did you change "that" to "if" while I wasn't looking /images/graemlins/wink.gif?

That's a small raise preflop. I think you want to narrow the field down a little more so I would raise a little more than that.

I hate that situation with so many seeing the flop and so many reasons for a monkey to chase. If you make a standard lead on the flop (.5 to 1 pot) all you need is one early caller to give a later actor decent expectation... so I understand the overbet.

Seems like you're damned if you do/don't. I think you need to make a standard bet on the flop and tread cautiously to any action that comes back at you.

But I'd probably call an all-in raise on the flop and hate life for a few minutes.

Agreed. With two callers in front you gotta pump it up to 120 or so.
