I would like to introduce this man to Dan Harrington, and then have him repeat his statement and back it up with reasoning. I somehow doubt he would win that argument.

It's just a function of our democracy. We rarely let someone who actually knows what he's talking about be in charge of anything important.

Frankly I'd take his statement to court and note that if he's not going to consider card games of skill as "gambling", then he can't consider poker as "gambling". If he thinks there's less skill in poker than there is in gin or hearts, he's out of his mind. And I'd gamble that would be an easy point to prove.
