Why didn't you raise PF?

I was just about to say something along the lines of, "Without a read, I play it the same," or whatever, but then I saw your post. I just assume JJ is being raised preflop.

Yeah, Mang, raise preflopz0r. After that, yeah, looks good.

I know SS says raise PF, but a local poker pro at Foxwoods told me it is a bit controverial. Is he wrong?

Anyway, I lost to a full house. So I'm guessing raise is correct.

he's probably weak tight and doesn't make as much $ as he should

Just out of curiosity, what does the "pro" play?

Quotes will remain until proven otherwise because limping JJ sucks.

It's not controversial. You should be raising 88-TT here as well.

Two Things.

1. I think about 95% of 2+2'ers raise PF in this spot.
2. Be careful trying to extrapolate too much from one hand... Just because you lost to a full house this hand doesn't mean a thing. It's short term variance.

I think that's the only answer that would've had less info than "poker." What limits does he play?

Sorry, 10/20 or 15/30. He's not a full time pro though. He has a day job. I played with his wife at 4/8 and I would watch him cash out. He did very well at 10/20 all summer long. I'll have to ask him again because maybe I heard him wrong.

If you lost to anything that hit on this board, I think that demonstrates the value of raising here preflop. Either way, aside from that I'm alright with the play. I've had some bizarre stuff shown down to me lately, far more tricky play than I'd generally expect to see when slightly scary cards hit.

After reading your two posts on this page, I think you should focus less on analyzing your earnings rate and more on playing better poker.
