Hiya,
I'm new to 2+2 and have very much enjoyed lurking and learning over the past few months. Thanks for all the good advice and interesting ideas! So to completely depart from the world of poker, I'd really appreciate it if someone could quickly check my math for the following.......
My wife is getting her BSN (Bachelor of Sci in Nursing) and her last(as in LAST!)final is this next Wednesday. Long story short, she has not done well in this class even though she has a 3.5 over all and it will be up to this one final to see if she can graduate the following day. Nothing like pressure eh?
From the syllabus-
4 Quizzes (averaged) 10%
Lab Test 15%
Test 1 20%
Test 2 20%
Final (100 questions) 35%
Total- 100%
Passing grade is 70%
So here is my figuring with her actual results included. Solve for "What does she have to get on the Final to average >=70?"
Quizes- (70+70+70+90)/4= 75*10%= 7.50
Lab test- 60.42* 15%= 9.06
Test 1- 63.51* 20%= 12.70
Test 2- 60.00* 20%= 12.00
70-(7.5+9.06+12.7+12)= 28.74
28.74/ 35=82.11%
Because the final is 100 questions (multiple choice) the answer would round up the 83% to pass. Right? Wrong??
