Yes, like you get to enjoy baseball in October while those of us who root for 25 teams that will never have a prayer try to enjoy games in which we have no rooting interest.

It's almost a relief to get it over. As a fan, I know nothing can ever be as bad as this again: it can't get worse than blowing a 3-0 lead after leading in the 9th inning of game 4. So the only way to go is up.

Exactly. Or an Indians fan? There are plenty of teams far worse off than the Yankees and Red Sox.

Yeah, we become spoiled. But I've experienced both kinds of pain. From 1965 to 1975, the Yankees didn't make the playoffs; finished dead last in a ten-team league in 1966. Then again from 1982 to 1994, no playoffs.

It' hard to get your hopes up in spring training and then see your team start 10-24 and the year's over already. It's also hard to see your team be on the verge of something great and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
