You’re really going to like this one. I called but you didn’t pick up.

The early position player in this hand is somewhat of a landshark. He has sunglasses, but no baseball hat. I heard him say pot-odds or something once or twice.

The late position player is an older, somewhat conservative Asian woman.

I’m me, in the middle with 44.

The board is 9s 7h 4s 4c Ts.

On the river the EP player checks. I bet. The conservative woman raises. The EP calls.
I make it three bets and the woman caps. The EP quickly calls again.

We all turn over our hand. The woman has TT. The EP has Ks 5s. The EP guys, perturbed that the she raised and he had to call two more river bets, says to the conservative Asian woman: “Sometimes you just have to figure you’re beat, lady.”

"He has sunglasses, but no baseball hat."

i liked this part. lmao.

here i got one for you from a few weeks ago when a lot of ladies from out of town were visiting for the ladies tournament. this one angry woman is complaining loudly the whole time about oceanside and california and how crappy it is and how we all play bad and she's stuck and so on. she's from ohio.

i have AKo in the sb. two players limp including lady from above, and i raise, they call. the flop is like T high w/ a flush draw and one card straight draw. i bet guy calls and she raises, i 3 bet because ive seen her push flush and straight draws too much on the flop before, plus she plays a lot of suited trash. plus i want so badly to beat her. so i raise, back to them and they call.

the turn is a J i decide to bet again anyway and they call.

the river is a Q. i bet and only she calls.

when i slowly turn my hand over i say "welcome to california!" the whole table erupts with laughter and the lady goes ballistic (she flopped two pair).

Mike, I really enjoy your posts, and this is a reason why. What a great line. I can just hear her telling her midwest friends about the nut job maniacs who play in Cali....

When people ask where they should move to play poker, one thing no one mentions is, in Vegas, the tourists think the locals play good, in SoCal., the tourists think the locals play bad.
