I have been playing poker with a serious intrest for a couple years now. I started like everyone else with friends or family then was introduced to poker at the casino. It seems like I won a little here and there but always put more back into the game. This was hurting my "bankroll" ( I didn't know what a bankroll was then!). I decided to start reading some books, and watching all those guys who seemed to leave with chips....maybe not the most chips but almost always with more then they came with.
I began to learn and learn and soak as much information as I could up about the game. Playing and playing whenevre I got the chance. I began to see the results turn around. This was even more fun then before! I have been able to keep up a ok hourly rate and am still learning but far from where I would like to be as a player...far from many of the players I admire in my local cardroom. I still do not understand how it can go so bad......I mean real bad.
I am not talking about bad beats, rather my play. How can you know what is the right thing to do and just not do it? I am not talking about tricky situations....just a situation like UTG...do I muck 5-7 off or call with it.....duh!!
I think everyone has gone through this or some variation. I go over the sessions in my head after I have played in the last couple weeks and I can not believe how badly I play. I am not trying to say I went from being a great player to playing bad...just that I made a short fall,a fall that is the difference in racks of chips at the end of a night.
I think back about a year or so, a post of a fellow player from my local room. I respect his play but I took more from his post then anything I have ever watched him do in a game. He wrote on howrunning porly was a translation for playing poorly....somthing along those lines. I look back at my sessions and I see the same things..poor play poor results.
I do not have a question just wanted to get it off my chest. I am hoping that writing about it will get me out of the funk I am in, and maybe sombody will read it and not blame the guy who sucked out on you with those lousy pocket Kings to your 7/8 off suit.
I apologize for the poor grammer!!! I just need to ramble.
