Default Why do I love poker so much?

I really couldn't say. People here in San Diego say surfing is a lifestyle and for me, poker is the same way. I'm not saying I'm a professional, but I do pull around 200 dollars a week playing on the side. While I could easily do this by getting a second job, why would I? I get 200 dollars a week for doing something that I love to do. When I'm at the table, nothing else seems to matter. Time flies by and before I know it, it's morning. The subtle complexities of the game with the added excitement of real money at stake makes poker a game like no other. I spend hours reading about poker and browsing this forum and others like it whenever I'm not actually playing. For me, poker compares to nothing else. I may seem a little obsessed, but heck, what better thing to be obessed with? So why do I love poker? I'll be damned if I know, but I'm sure glad that I do.

Default Call 1-800-YOU-HAVE-A-PROBLEM

It's about the same for me also. When you start using poker terms in other parts of your life, you know you are in trouble... Like instead of describing a terrible movie you just saw as having 1-Star...you say that movie was 7-2o.

At least I don't think I have it as bad as one guy I was playing against on Paradise...he typed "brb...I have to go sing Happy Birthday to my son".... Had to gamble during his son's birthday party! I don't know if he was serious or not, but if he was, that's a little sad. Funny, but sad.

Default Unbelievable

Heheh, I may love poker, but I know where to put my priorities. Speaking of 7-2o, I lost to one of those today... I read an interesting article by a guy recently who stated that his love of poker was an obsession, not an addiction. In other words, he was always able to walk away when something else mattered more. That I think, is an important distinction.

Skippy,

Don't feel bad, I'm the same way.
