"Check my math. The odds of getting AK before the flop :
8/52*4/51"

Your way gives (8/52)*(4/51)=
0.0120663650075414781297134238310709

Another way : There are C(8,2)=28 combinations made between As and Ks. Taking out the AA and KK combinations, which are 2*C(4,2)= 2*6=12 combinations of AA and KK overall, we get 28-12=16 combinations of AK.
Measured against the total combinations of 2-card hands, C(52,2)=1326, this gives the probability of being dealt AK, ie 16/1326=
0.0120663650075414781297134238310709

So both ways give the same result, 1.2% or abt 82:1 against.

[Your (8/52)*(4/51) is (8*4)/(52*51)=32/2652, which simplifies to 16/1326.]
