lets talk about NOTE TAKING
i make it a point to take detailed notes whenever i see players doing ridiculous things in the 5/10 games i play.
for instance "CRed KQo UTG" would be a no brainer as it proves that the guy would check raise a poor hand. but i can't help but think that some suggestions and descriptions of your own personal style of note taking would help me out. if this has been covered in depth allready just gimme a link or something. |

Re: lets talk about NOTE TAKING
I usually go with "Moron" and then a number from
one to ten to tell how much of a idiot he is! You would be suprised how many Moron10's there are out there! |

By itself, it means nothing to me. Was the CR with two pair? Top pair? Bottom pair? Air? Full table? Loose table? What? That CR might have been an idiot play, it might have been an genius play, but there's no way to tell (unless you only take notes on idiots, which is sort of a waste). You may remember these details now, but if this player pops up at your table months from now, what's that note going to mean to you? I think good notes have to be able to stand on their own, without you having to remember the context they were recorded in. That's why you take notes, right? So you don't have to remember. My own notes tend to be more general. I'll write whether a player is tricky, a lunatic, strong or just plain moronic. I augment with hand notes like the one you've got here, so it might be something like "Fish. Overaggressive on flop. CR KQo on 987 rainbow board." |

Re: lets talk about NOTE TAKING
Pretty hard to check-raise UTG preflop.

Re: lets talk about NOTE TAKING
I like to record what people will call down with. Whether or not to value bet a marginal hand on the river becomes a much easier decision when I have a note one some one that says "Often calls a river bet with bottom pair or worse."

Re: lets talk about NOTE TAKING
I generally take notes that state, good thinking player. Solid ABC. Weak tight. Calls down with any pair. Called the river with A9 high. Waiting until the turn to raise me wiht a strong hand, thinking good player.
