better or worse than your average table?
Table selection doesn't get discussed much here, but here's a table I was on this aft (5-10 6max):
I wait for a seat because my very favoritest fish is spewing away. He's 74/4/.35 over 350 hands. WTSD about 55%. He will call down on any board with K high HU. If he bets, he has top pair at least. If he raises, 2 pair at least. Unfortunatly, when a seat opens up, it's on his right (so he's on my left when I sit down). Also, the other 4 players at the table are TAG (25-30/15-25). So, is this better or worse than your average 5-10 6max table with 2-3 40+VPIP players. My impression is that it's better, I just think it's worse because I ran bad, but maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.... thoughts? BTW, here's a hand for sample purposes. I would normally never ever open limp in the sb, but this guy is special. I limp because his decision to call is based solely on his hand, not on the action to him: Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (2 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, BB calls. Turn: (2 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, BB calls. River: (4 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, BB checks. Final Pot: 4 BB Results in white below: Hero has 9d 7s (one pair, nines). BB has 7c 3h (high card, king). Outcome: Hero wins 4 BB. |

Re: better or worse than your average table?
In shorthanded, seat selection is 10x more important than table selection in my opinion. That is because you spend 2/3 of the time in steal position or steal-defense position. Find a better seat at a different table.

Re: better or worse than your average table?
Agreed, I'll sit at at able w/a few tags as long as I have position on the one big fish. I find I make most of my $$ off the players sitting either directly to my right or 2 seats to my right
