Default Baffled and confused.....

Right, I'm not entirely sure of what to do....

I recently had my cousin build me a PC from scratch...
I got 2 19" dell lcds....As they were £200 each.....I got flamed for not getting 2001FP's...but thats irrelevant now....

My problem is that the adaptor I purchased to convert the VGA to DVI doesn't fit my graphics card.....The slot on the graphics card is a 25 pin slot (I can't find the site that compares the different slots)...but basically it appears that I can't get an adaptor (as the one I have is 29 pin) that will convert the VGA to a DVI slot that can fit my card....

What shall I do....?

Also, on a side note, I have connected my PC to my wireless broadband that runs around my house....However whenever, I swich my PC on - It knocks out the internet connection for the entire house.....I'm doing something wrong but cannot fathom it out.....Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I may be able to do to solve these problems...?

Pic...

It's those extra 4 pins the adapter connects your VGA lead to - if they're not present, the card doesn't have a VGA output. The adapter is just for physically mapping pins, it doesn't convert the digital output to analog. You need to get a digital input monitor, or an analog output video card.

So I need a different graphics card then ???

Or could I use a splitter to put the 2 screens through the one vga port ??

Yes, if the LCDs are VGA only.

No, not unless it's a specialist card designed to do that like the old Matrox multi-head cards(and it would have come with its own splitter if it were).

In future, buy the 2001FP, same as everyone else :-)

It must be the graphics card then...this is doing my nut in !

Does the 2001FP come with DVI or VGA lead...? As ultimately if it comes with a vga lead - then I would still have the same problem...

Let me see if I got this straight; your video card has a DVI-V/DVI-D (-D is the newer standard for -V) female conector like the picture in your post. And the cable on the LCD monitor has a DVI-I male connector? If that's the case it sounds like you need a DVI-I Female to DVI-D Male adapter.

The 2001FP comes with both DVI and VGA leads, as it can take either type of signal as an input. I thought everything you need to know is explained in the text of the graphic you posted, but now I'm starting think I've misunderstood...

What type of connections are on the back of your monitors? I was assuming VGA only, but now I'm starting to wonder if they also have DVI inputs, but you just haven't got the right lead.
