Default What\'s a good $400ish car?

I need a car in the $300 to $600 range to take my buddies and myself to the Commerce Casino and Bicycle Club Casino twice a week. We only take the side streets, never the freeway - thus, we don't need a certified pre-owned car. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

My first ever car was a 81 Datsun Diesel pickup. I got it for $200 and it was the best car ive ever owned. I still see a few Datsun pickups tooling around. If you see one you should grab it.

Back in '86, I had a Honda Civic that cost, interestingly enough, exactly $400.

Except for the carburetor getting vapor-locked on occasion, it was the nuts. It was rusted out badly on the front quarter-panels, and when you really got going, the air would get under them and they would lift up just like a pair of wings going down the highway.

I drove it ten hours up to Baxter State Park in Maine for a few days hiking and canoeing trip and had no worries as long as I didn't get stuck in traffic for too long. The guy I worked with in sales that year was right when he said they had engines you just couldn't kill.

Maybe you can find an old Civic for $400. I sure got my money's worth out of that one.

Did your $30-$60 game with the dishwasher get busted?

Just grab an old Skyhawk or Malibu. The bodies are usually beat to hell but you can't stop one from running* without driving it into a lake.

Unfortunately, our private games at Uncle Thuong's noodle house got busted. The dishwasher has been promoted to part-time cashier and now thinks 30-60 is beneath him.

Can I buy your Datsun off you, Boris? My buddies and I are really tired of taking the bus. The three hour bus commute between the Commerce and the Bike is really cutting into our hourly EV big time.
