I honestly can't understand this attitude. Koumari Boy (multimillionaire Harry Demetriou) says Stars are tacky for donating thousands because they are getting publicity for it. They should donate privately and not tell anyone about it apparently. Surely this would mean that only half as much money gets donated?

Sorry have to strongly DIASGREE with your altered opinion on this one Keith.

Your first instincts were completely right and this was a VERY tacky move on Poker Stars part imo.

If you want to do something for charity and raise a few extra quid then that's fine but when people do something for charity and give the impression that it's really about improving your own individual profile then it is tacky.

It's a bit like Phil Collins flying fom one Live Aid concert in London to one in New York to play at both...rather than being a charity driven thing it smacks more of "Look at Me and Give me All this Attention because of what I am doing" as a publicity gimmick rather than drawing attention to a worthwhile cause.

The again maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age or maybe it's because I've been around long enough to have developed a sixth sense about how scummy a lot of people and organizations are.

This whole thing is beginning to make me puke.

First the British government offers a paltry amount in aid which later gets boosted up to £50 million through sheer embarassment as a direct consequence of the wonderful generosity of the British public (Note they did this after their contribution is shown to be pathetically inadequate by comparison).

And now in a similar vein we get Poker Stars trying to make themselves look good by saying they will match all the money raised on their site.

Blatant self promoting PR exercises imho.

Everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon but only as long as they get some credit for it.

If they want to give then they should just GIVE and not shout it from the roof tops to make themselves look better.

Now this is getting VERY VERY TACKEY

What a complete ass. The only reason stars is advertising is to INCREASE donations. Guess thats over his pea brain. Nothing like pissing on someone for doing something positive for the humans. Now I know what Negreanu was talking about.

Kudos again to GrannyMae for all her work.

Deposited the $50 minimum at Stars via Netller, played in the tournament and donated the rest vis Stars. Busted out early with QQ vs. AK but I'm glad to contribute the $50 and help to show that poker players aren't all degenerates.

Default Who wants the bounty?

Since I was only able to donate blinds to the tourney, my bounty was transferred to TylerD (hop you take no offense TylerD, why I chose you was purely a coincidence). However, I don't know who knocked him out, so please step forward and I will transfer the money as quickly as possible.

Hope you all had fun yesterday!

Microbob, I had no idea you were Zorac. I would of chip dumped to you instead.

It was a fun event. Memorable things for me were

1. Tripling up hand 1 with KK.

2. Calling a big raise with 88, to see the flop 224, and the PF rasier somehow had 26. I was on tilt at any hand involving that Donkey guy who crippled me. Almost busting before the final table trying to bust Donkey with 66 to his KK.

3. Getting the reputation of "never finding a semi-bluff I didnt like" thanks Grisga.

4. Taking a parting pot-shot at Lee saying his book made me lose after I get walloped with A9 v AA.

Thanks Granny for a good event, and going out of your way for a great cause.

Default TylerD = TylerK?

Is TylerK, TylerD's handle at PS? Or is it something else entirely? By the way, get TylerD's approval before you post his handle and if he's reluctant to release it, I will transfer the money to the one who busted out TylerK.
