Default not cold calling

im reading ed millers book on small stakes hold em and im having trouble understanding the whole concept of practically never cold calling .... whats wrong with capping a raise and reraise with a hand like AKs or even kk to see a flop ... why is it so bad to cold call alot or even a moderate amount...

You may be confused about the definition.

Cold-calling means calling someone elses raise when you haven't already put any money into the pot. So if you are on the button with ATo and somebody in MP1 open-raises if you call you are cold-calling. If you have AKs or KK and raise, you are raising and not cold-calling.
