Stealing and getting tricky with KK.
I've attacked villian's blinds a few times and he took a stand on an eariler hand, which I grumply laid down. He's a decent player and can lay down hands ( I believe) when he's beat. What's the best line here?
Thanks in advance fellow microers. Re: Stealing and getting tricky with KK.
cap PF, cap the turn, if you are scared of the A then check/call, if you thing he doesn't have it, bet into it.

Re: Stealing and getting tricky with KK.
I think tricky play ended up biting you in the ass on this one. I'd just cap preflop, 3 bet the flop. With the A hitting on the turn given the way you played it, I take a WA/WB line and check/call turn and bet the river, call a raise. The reasoning here is that he probably picked up on your blind stealing and is trying to push you off the best hand with nothing.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes I figured that out, which is why I didn't want to push back at him too hard, cause if he's bluffing I lose bets... check/calling sounds good though and a value bet on the river too. |

Re: Stealing and getting tricky with KK.
You should check-raise the flop if you don't cap preflop. With this board, villian will find a reason to call 1 more and possibly a turn bet if he improves (he likely has 6 outs now). I'd bet the turn given your read. Getting this checked through is terrible for hero.

You should check-raise the flop if you don't cap preflop. [/ QUOTE ] This is an interesting line. If he puts me on a steal, then a check/raise is reasonably way for me to try to take the pot from him. And if he puts me on a resteal that he would not be going anywhere if he hit the flop or if say he has a pocket pair of some sort. Ouch my brain hurts a little now. Guess the only thing I was concerned about was if he was re-raising me with junk. |

Re: Stealing and getting tricky with KK.
With KK on this flop, you're not as worried about "taking" the pot from villian. You usually have the best hand here, and check-raising gets more money in the pot when you're the favorite, and also gets villian more tied to the pot. I wouldn't worry about a 3-bet on the flop, it's okay to cap this flop HU. And you should plan to see the river in this hand.

Re: Stealing and getting tricky with KK.
Given that BB was so defensive with his blinds, I probably would have capped preflop, reraised that flop, and with the ace on the turn, called it down. With a 5BB pot it's potentially going to cost you another 2 to get to the showdown, I'd say probably check-call the turn then bet the river if he checks behind on the turn.

(In the dark)
Cap preflop and 3-bet the flop. I'd bet the turn here and slow down if villain raises again. |
