Button 52/18/2 UTG is on my buddy list. Button bets when checked to. Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. <font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, Button calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG calls. Flop: (10.50 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font> UTG checks, Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, UTG calls, Hero calls. Turn: (6.75 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font> UTG checks, Hero checks, Button checks. River: (6.75 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">UTG bets</font>, Hero calls, Button folds. Final Pot: 8.75 BB I cheked the turn planning to c/r. I didn't want to donk the turn, get raised , find out I'm behind, and get UTG knocked out. Given this was my plan I should raise the river right? If it hand't been the 3rd diamond I would have pulled the trigger but I wimped out. Thoughts?

A lot of guys who don't raise much raise crappy hands and limp big premiums. If that's the case, good raise. If not. . .uh. . .
Don't raise the river. That guy likely isn't aggro enough for a raise to be worth it, I think.

[/ QUOTE ] What's your plan on the turn if the button bets and UTG raises? Is that a fold? I assume you're planning to c/r a button bet and UTG call. If so, I think you're behind here too often to put 2 bets in. If you're putting 2 bets on the turn in, I'd rather do it by donking the turn and getting raised by the button which is the best chance of knocking out UTG.

The guy is on his buddy list, so I guess hero is very aware of utg's post-flop tendencies. I think isolating here with good reads will be profitable. Cold calling is definitely wrond here, so I guess you are suggesting that he should fold? Even though utg is raising only 7%, he's still definitely too loose and too passive post-flop.
